## Overview

- **What you get**: Client-side (zero-knowledge) encryption meant files were encrypted on the user's device before upload, so not even Wuala could read them. It originally let users trade local disk space and bandwidth for storage in a peer-to-peer network, though this was later dropped in favor of storage on Wuala's own servers in Switzerland, France, and Germany.
