AliasVault is aimed at privacy-conscious individuals and households who want one tool for storing passwords and passkeys and for generating unique email aliases for every site they sign up to, including technical users who prefer to run their own self-hosted server instead of the vendor's cloud.
The product combines an end-to-end encrypted password and passkey manager with a built-in receive-only email server for generating aliases, plus a built-in 2FA authenticator, offline vault access with sync/conflict merging, and official apps for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, the web, and Chrome/Firefox/Edge/Safari/Brave browser extensions.
Each user's vault is a zero-knowledge store encrypted client-side, with the encryption key derived from the master password via Argon2id and vault data encrypted with AES-256-GCM; incoming emails to an alias are encrypted with the user's public key before being stored, so AliasVault's servers cannot read vault or email contents. It is offered as a free (fair-use limited) hosted cloud service or as open-source (AGPL-3.0) software users can self-host via Docker, with paid Premium/Family cloud tiers still marked as upcoming.
