How Alt Score works
Alt Score ranks software by documented feature coverage, with a smaller signal for interest on AltCatalog. It helps you compare options within a category. It is not a rating of overall product quality or personal fit.

Each app is scored against its primary category's feature checklist. A verified “yes” earns 1 point, “partial” earns 0.5, and “no” earns 0. Unknown and pending answers earn no points.
Coverage is the percentage of available checklist points earned. Pricing, license, and platform facts are shown for comparison but do not add points.
Visibility · 10%
Visibility compares an app's page views on AltCatalog over the last 30 days with the most-viewed app in its category. It can change the total by at most 10 points.
Below 500 app-page views in a category over 30 days, every app gets the same Visibility value, so coverage alone determines the order.
Alt Score = (Verified coverage × 0.90) + (Visibility × 0.10)
Both inputs use a 0–100 scale. The result is rounded to a whole number. Payment and sponsorship are not score inputs.
How to read the score
An app with less documented data may score lower even if it supports the features. “?” means we have not confirmed the answer, not that the feature is absent.
Visibility measures interest on this site, not satisfaction or a decision to switch. Familiar names can attract more views. Use the feature table and sources to decide which option suits you.
Calculation details
Coverage = 100 × earned checklist points ÷ active checklist rows. If there is no checklist, coverage is 0. Coverage and Visibility are rounded before combining them.
Below the traffic threshold, Visibility is 100 for every app. Above it, Visibility = 100 × (app views + 20) ÷ (most-viewed app's views + 20). The added 20 reduces swings from small numbers of views.
