Who it's for

Aviary was used by consumer smartphone/web users who wanted quick, in-app photo editing (crop, enhance, effects), as well as by app developers and companies (e.g., Flickr, Walgreens) who embedded Aviary's SDK to add photo-editing tools to their own products.

What you get

Aviary provided a standalone mobile and web photo editor with tools like crop, rotate, enhance, filters/effects, stickers, red-eye removal, whitening, and blemish removal. It also offered a free, customizable SDK (iOS, Android, Windows, HTML5) that let third-party apps embed the same editing engine. After Adobe's 2014 acquisition, it was positioned as part of Adobe's Creative SDK, adding integration with Creative Cloud and Photoshop technology.

How it works

Users imported a photo into the Aviary app or a partner app embedding the Aviary SDK, applied edits through a toolbar of effects and adjustments, and saved or exported the result. Developers integrated the SDK directly into their own apps to expose the same editing interface to their users.
