Who it's for

Small groups of friends or family who wanted a shared place to collect and discuss content around a specific topic or interest.

What you get

A "space" was a lightweight group feed built around a topic, where members posted links, photos, and comments. It had built-in search so users could pull in YouTube videos, images, and Google Search results directly into the conversation without leaving the app. It was available as apps for Android and iOS, a Chrome app, and a web version. Google launched it in May 2016 and shut it down in April 2017.

How it works

A user created a space, gave it a topic, and invited others via a shareable link or their Google account; members then dropped in content and replies, using the integrated search bar to find and add web results, images, or videos to the discussion.
