Who it's for

Teams and individuals who need more structure and rigor than a spreadsheet but don't want to set up a database or write backend code — small businesses, nonprofits, research labs, and ops/IT teams tracking linked data (inventory, projects, contacts, surveys).

What you get

A spreadsheet-like grid backed by a real relational data model, so you can link tables together instead of duplicating data across sheets. Formulas can be written in Python, not just spreadsheet functions. Fine-grained access rules let you restrict specific rows, columns, or tables per user. It also includes built-in forms, charts/pivot tables, and a REST API, and can be self-hosted or used as a hosted SaaS.

How it works

You create a document, add tables of data, and link them by referencing rows in other tables. You then write formulas (Excel-style or Python) to compute columns, build custom page layouts from views/widgets, and set access rules before sharing the document with collaborators or the public.
