Who it's for

Teams already inside Atlassian's ecosystem (especially those migrating off HipChat) who wanted a group chat and meetings tool tied to Jira and Confluence.

What you get

Stride combined persistent group and 1:1 chat with built-in voice/video meetings, so conversations and calls stayed in the same app. A 'Focus mode' let users mute notifications for blocks of time, and 'Actions and Decisions' let anyone tag a chat message as an action item or decision, turning it into a trackable record without leaving the conversation. It was Atlassian's rebuilt successor to HipChat, positioned as a Slack competitor.

How it works

Users joined rooms to chat and jumped into a voice or video meeting from that same room; during a meeting or discussion, tagging a message as an Action or Decision logged it to a running list for the room. Atlassian discontinued Stride in 2019, sold the technology to Slack, and migrated remaining customers there.
