Alternatives to Yammer

Yammer provided a private, enterprise-only social feed where staff could post updates, ask questions, and join topic- or department-based communities/groups. It supported threaded conversations, polls, praise, file sharing, and company-wide 'all-hands' style broadcasts and live events with leadership. As part of Microsoft 365, it integrated with SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook, using company credentials for access.

Users signed in with their work Microsoft 365 account, joined or followed relevant communities, and posted or replied in a scrolling social feed visible across the organization. In 2023 Microsoft rebranded Yammer as Viva Engage, retiring the Yammer name while carrying its community and feed features forward.
