Who it's for

Bitcoin-only holders who want maximum self-custody security and are willing to skip a proprietary app in exchange for air-gapped signing, dual secure elements, and fully open-source, MIT-licensed firmware — from individual savers to multisig/inheritance setups run with Sparrow, Electrum, or Nunchuk as the coordinator.

What you get

A Bitcoin-only hardware signer (Mk5 or Coldcard Q) with dual multi-vendor secure elements, on-device screen verification of every address and transaction, BIP-39 passphrase hidden wallets, native multisig up to 15 co-signers, encrypted MicroSD backups, and Seed XOR split backups — signing happens over MicroSD, NFC, or QR/BBQr (Q) with no USB data connection or Bluetooth required.

How it works

You initialize the device to generate a BIP-39 seed on-device, then pair it as a watch-only signer with third-party Bitcoin coordinator software (Sparrow, Electrum, Nunchuk, Specter, BTCPay Server, etc.) rather than a Coldcard-branded app. Unsigned transactions (PSBTs) are moved to the device via MicroSD, NFC tap, or QR code, verified and signed entirely offline on the device's screen, then the signed transaction is passed back the same air-gapped way to be broadcast.
