Pioneering fitness wearable and app. Jawbone UP has been discontinued; the active alternatives listed here are maintained products you can switch to.
Consumers interested in tracking their own fitness, sleep, and daily habits, particularly early adopters of wearable self-tracking devices.
A wristband worn 24/7 that logged steps, activity, and sleep patterns (later models added heart rate), paired with a smartphone app for food logging, trend insights, and a smart alarm that woke users during light sleep. The band itself had no screen, relying on small LED indicators and a button for basic status and mode switching. Later versions like the UP3 and UP4 added passive heart-rate and hydration sensing.
Users wore the band and it passively recorded movement and sleep data, which synced over Bluetooth to the Jawbone UP app; users could also manually log meals and moods, and the app surfaced trends and coaching insights. Jawbone shut down its consumer business in 2017, discontinuing the UP line and its supporting app and services.
