Foam turns a folder of plain Markdown files into an interconnected knowledge base using wikilinks and automatic backlinks, plus a visual graph of how your notes relate. It adds daily notes, templates, block-level references, and note embeds for structured capture. Because notes are just Markdown in a Git repo, there's no vendor lock-in and you can version, sync, and publish them like any other code.
Install Foam as a free VS Code extension (or use its template repo), then write notes as Markdown files inside a workspace. Link related notes with [[wikilink]] syntax, and Foam surfaces backlinks and a graph view automatically; notes can later be published via GitHub Pages or similar static hosting.
